Frank Hartman was born in 1971 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and currently resides and works in Utrecht, the Netherlands. He is a contemporary artist creating installations, projections and photography.
Hartman’s most recognizable works are installations that comprise of obsolete electronics and displays, combined with repurposed found objects. His installations often include digital biotopes in varying sizes and configurations.
Two recurring subjects in his work are anthropomorphism and the propagation of culture through the exchange of ideas. His works usually take place where the physical and digital realms meet.
During his 30 year career in graphic design, Frank Hartman exhibited at Raamkunst (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) in 2004, and co-curated the exhibition Das ist ein Hund at De Kabinetten van de Vleeshal in Middelburg, the Netherlands, together with Gyz La Rivière.
